Aadi Perukku is a unique South Indian and especially a Tamil state festival celebrated on the 18th day of the Tamil month of Adi (mid- July to mid-August).
The festival is celebrated in Mauritius tomorrow.
Tamil wives renew their vows by changing their saffron-coloured wedding thread (Taali).
Normally on this day, ladies wait for an auspicious time and go either to the banks of rivers or the seaside and throwthe old wedding thread in the water and replace it with a newly-knitted one.
The festival has particular symbolism for newlyweds who change their Taali for the first time.
The bride has to be dressed as she was on her wedding day and it is the husband who changes the first thread.
For the coming years, it is not necessary for the husband to accompany his wife to the riverbanks or seaside.
After the ritual at the seaside, the ladies go to the temple and pray to the Goddess Ammen to protect their family.
In India, the festival coincides with the annual monsoon rise of the river waters.
Tamil Jodhidam for Aadi Perukku | 2010 Aadi 18 Tamil Astrology Josiyam
Replace your worry with hope. And fulfill your hope with action. Send positive thoughts to your most troubling situation. Soon you’ll find yourself starting to act on those thoughts.
Instead of worrying about the worst that could happen, allow yourself to hope for the best that can happen. In your mind, make the most positive outcome real. Hope for the best, with passion, conviction and faith. For when you do, you’ll begin to see real, workable ways to get there.
There is no situation so desperate that it cannot be turned around. Always, there is a place and a purpose for hope. Hope for the best, and let that hope push you forward. With hope in your heart, you’re well on your way.
