81min – Awful, awful mistake from Spain’s Pedro as he gets away from the German defence, but he is halted by two German defenders while an unmarked, and furious Fernando Torres begs for the pass.
Terribly selfish play, which the Spaniard could rue should Germany take this to extra time.

Pedro has a go before a lovely little back flick from Alonso finds Iniesta who finds space on the left of Neuer’s goal to cross it to David Villa on the left who was in a perfect position to slot the ball into the back of the net.
The ball then comes back to Pedro who fires it Alonso style at the goal as Germany defend for their lives.
54min – There is some more pretty play from Spain as the result of a Germany throw in down the other end.
The Spaniard ping it down the midfield, before Iniesta finds Villa who promptly fires it wide of the mark. Could be time for Spain to make a change…..

45min – Both teams are back out on the pitch and the Spanish begin with some attacking verve. No changes for either side.
HALF TIME: Spain 0 Germany 0
So it is all square going into the break of this World Cup semi-final. Although Spain are playing a beautiful and sublime passing game they are failing to find the power to hit the back of the net.
Germany meanwhile are slowly coming to life as the game progresses – they have not enjoyed too much possession but are looking super dangerous on the break.
Hopefully someone can break the deadlock and bring this game to life in the second half.
45min – The game finally bursts to life just before the half time break as Mesut Ozil powers into the Spanish box – he is tackled and brought down by Sergio Ramos and looks to the ref for a penalty, but the ref waves for play to continue. Right decision from the official not give the pen, but perhaps should have been a free kick.
41min – Boetang gives away a free kick after a cynical kick on Iniestia, but Spain over think it and the opportunity is wasted.

Podolski’s pass goes missing before Klose finds the ball again. He tires to turn it into the Spanish net but Puyol deals.
18min – Another decent chance for Spain as Capdevila powers in a cross to Sergio Ramos who is left undetected in the Germany box, but the angle is too actue for the Spanish defender.
The camera also just shot to the suspended Mueller sitting in the stands. Are the Germany’s missing the pace of this rising star?

11min – Spain are enjoying most of the early posesssion and Vicente del Bosque can be happy with his sides start to the game.
Germany on the other hand are not looking like the well oiled machince they were against England and Argentina.
6min – Well what a chance for Spain. There is a brilliant ball fired in from Pedro to David Villa who is one side right in the Germany box – but it is blocked by Neuer.
Torres replacement Pedro has been the most lively player on the pitch so far, but I still wouldn’t put it past the Liverpool man to come on as a late sub and find his feet.
3min – It is cagey stuff from both sides so far – but a man has just ran onto the pitch, only to be take off by a security guard.
1min – And we have kick off the second World Cup semi-final, which is also a repeat of the European Championship final which Spain won 1-0 in 2008 – but there is no place for the hero of that night in the team tonight as Fernando Torres has been benched

Germany coach Joachim Loew made only one change to his team from their 4-0 win against Argentina in the quarter-finals, opting to replace suspended striker Thomas Mueller with Piotr Trochowski, who will play down the right wing.
Mueller, who has four goals in the tournament, is suspended for one match after being booked in the Argentina game.

FIFA 2010 Oracle Octopus Prediction
Species | Octopus vulgaris |

Gender | Male |
Born | 2008 England |
Occupation | Oracle |
Known for | Making predictions forGermany national football team matches |
Paul the Octopus or Paul Oktopus is a two-year-old common octopus with a history of correctly predicting the results of major German international football matches, especially in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This total rate of 11 out of 12 games correct constitutes a significant deviation from what flipping a coin would suggest, using a Binomial test. A fair coin would guess at least 11 out of 12 games correctly only 1 time in 315.
Paul was hatched at the Sea Life Park in Weymouth, England but currently resides at the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany. Before German international football matches, Paul is presented with food in two identical containers; one container is marked with the flag of Germany and the other is marked with the flag of Germany’s opponent. In each instance, Paul’s choice of food is interpreted as his predicted victor. Paul is reported to have correctly chosen the winner in five of Germany’s six UEFA Euro 2008matches, predicting that Germany would win every match except a loss to Croatia, but incorrectly predicting Germany’s victory over Spain in the final in 2008. He correctly chose the winner in each of Germany’s six matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, including Germany’s loss to Serbia during the group phase, and a loss to Spain in semifinals.
An agency is taking bets on whether Paul the Octopus will correctly pick the winner of of the FIFA World Cup final – if, in fact, he does make a pick.
European based Williamhill.com is offering odds of even money that Paul will tip the winner.
But so far, the “oracle octopus” has only picked winners for games that Germany is playing in and it is unknown if he will pick a winner for Monday morning’s Spain v Netherlands final.
William Hill’s spokesman Tony Kenny said: “Punters are keen to back Paul’s tips and we’re giving them a chance to bet that he’ll pick the winner before he even makes his selection.”
Paul the Octopus has become an internet phenomenon for his uncanny ability to pick winners. He has accurately picked the winner of every game Germany has played in the FIFA World Cup.
Paul makes his choice by picking between two containers of food, each bearing the flag of the two teams playing.
It is also unknown if Paul will bet on the third place play-off between Germany and Uruguay.
