Andhra Pradesh TDP Bandh 19 July 2010

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu along with 74 partymen arrested by Maharashtra Police at Dharmabad during the protest over an irrigation project in Babhli were remanded to two days judicial custody after they refused to take bail.

Chandrababu Naidu and the others, arrested Friday night, were offered bail by the court and asked to furnish a personal bond for the release but they refused to take bail after which Judicial Magistrate First Class Deepak Matha sent them to two days judicial custody.

TDP senior leaders in Hyderabad held an emergency meeting at the party headquarters here this evening and finalised the action programme. They also had a teleconference with Chandrababu Naidu who was remanded to two days judicial custody by a court in Dharmabad in Maharashtra.

“We appeal to the people to co-operate and make the agitation a success,” Yanamala said.

Chandrababu Naidu is protesting the construction of Babhli dam by Maharashtra across Godavari River. The TDP is against the Babhli project as it will block water to Telangana districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Bandh after Bandh in Andhra Prades. Furst for Telangana, then border dispute, and now Babhli Dam Project. All these Bandhs are definately not going to help a common man. we need to wake up.
